D’Appolonia experience builds on several years of support to big players, including industry and end users (public organizations, ministries, international agencies, armed forces) in the security, space and defence, telecommunications and surveillance fields, where engineering and specialist consulting services are tailored to the needs of long term national and international programmes. 
Our engineering services include:

• system engineering and system integration services
• management of complex programmes, on a technical and programmatic base
• development of specialist studies (information security, electromagnetic compatibility, integrated logistics support, human factors, etc.)
• design and prototyping of complex systems

Relevant systems or systems-of-systems supported by the engineers of D’Appolonia include:

• software applications and modules (e.g. simulators and test and commissioning supporting tools)
• electronic hardware systems (e.g. urban public transport ticketing systems)
• radar and surveillance systems (e.g. vessel traffic and monitoring systems)
• communications systems (e.g. multi-switch communication units)
• security systems (e.g. access controls and video surveillance systems)

D’Appolonia has been involved in the main Space, Defence and Security Programmes developed in Italy and Europe in the last 15 years including the Cosmo SkyMed satellite system for the Italian Space Agency and the Italian Ministry of Defence, the new aircraft carrier for the Italian Navy, the Horizon Frigates and new FREMM Frigates for the Italian and French Navy, Vessel Traffic System Development Programmes, either in Italy or in other countries (Poland, Croatia, Algeria, Yemen). 

D’Appolonia is involved in the full-scale implementation of large Surveillance, Monitoring, Control and Communication systems projects supporting either the End Customers as prime engineer or the prime Contractors as specialist consultant, sub-contractor or co-contractor, based on the requirements of the Program and on specific teaming agreements as well as on long term framework agreements.
